for everyone
Early Light - Matawe Tidelands Promontory, Dingalan, Aurora.

Surviving cold weather, torrential rains, raging rivers, crashing waves, the rising tide, senseless humor, and most especially - the Tractor of Death. These are a few images captured as we made our way east to the Pacific Light of Dingalan, Aurora.

Nope. That's a one-shot image using an Hitech 0.9 Soft ND Grad filter (c/o Lloyd San Diego). I only adjusted white balance and added sharpening. :)

I actually don't have any HDR tonemapped images in this set hehe.

Edit: I also was using a polarizer and an ND8 filter under the ND Grad.

Yep. CPL to reduce the reflections and ND8 (including the CPL) para makagamit ako ng 4-stop longer exposure without using a small aperture.

at first i thought it was too dark....candidate sana for GND. but may purpose din siguro. great reflection of sky hues on the river...the deepening twilight sky and the last fragments of sunlight....mixing with the strong blacks in the reeds and the horizon.

im loving pentax blues. it's deep and strong without looking oversaturated.

excellent! another way of interpreting this fantastic scene. the kinetic energy of the waves just seem to invite one to linger on this image for long moments. great use of a fast shutter speed. the spray was frozen but the entire picture seems to move with a thunder.

i'm viewing this through a crappy monitor, but i think i can see some noise in the sky, do you?
pixelized wrote on Nov 26, '07
er, i have a similar composition. but after looking at this, i know now that it doesn't work (for me, at least). aside from the moving clouds, this image doesn't have anything interesting to make me sing praises. hmmm....baka as a a study of tones. ansel adams would have love playing his zone system on this image....strong blacks and bright highlights.

but otherwise....makapagbura na nga...hehehe

nicely done! considering how difficult it was to shoot this at that time, im happy you managed to get a lovely shot of this falls :-)

worth the zen splash trouble.

malupit! ako pala yun akala ko si lloyd na-duplicate....hehehe...great detail! your panoramas are always well detailed! ominous sky, parang replicated pero im sure genuine hehehe.

the shoreline looks weird pag matagal mong tinitigan. dapat kasi talagang may curve sya...diba? i think its futile to render it really straight.
pixelized wrote on Nov 26, '07, edited on Nov 26, '07
excellent composition and way better than what i did here. the central placement of the elements is just so spot on!

i find it just a bit too contrasty. but that's me on a crap monitor :-) baka out of gamut sya dito :-p

seriously, nice shutter speed. if it was me taking it with you in front... pang bitoy's funniest na yun for sure! :-p

Yep, yep noise. I didn't bother masking out the sky because I can't really see any noise here at home but at the office, it's noise galore. We really need to invest on a new monitor haha!

A testament to a failed IR. This looks even worse in color. I guess I was just trying to salvage a super long exposure that I invested alot of time on.

Hay unfortunately I was too traumatized ata I think haha. I forgot the 0.5 - 2s exposure for running water. Buti na lang eto medyo tumama.

I would really love to go back there when the waters not too high and try the fish hehehe!

Yung supposed to be first frame nag overlap kasi kayo ni Lloyd kaya puro ghost yung lumalabas.

This is genuinely tonemapped hehe. I was trying to replicate what I remember seeing that day. Too much you think?

May curve yung horizon, check mo hehe.

Thanks Verns. Nakakatakot nga when you look at the picture. Pero surprise talaga sya nangyari. I didn't think that a crash this strong would happen at that side of the promontory. The result was a very, very wet me and a drenched K10D! Now you have one more thing to be proud about your K10D hehe!
